The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia state has been set ablaze.
Confirming the sad incident in a statement on Monday, INEC spokesman, Festus Okoye, said the incident occurred on Sunday night.
He said that the building which was recently renovated was burnt down, adding that apart from furniture items, all electoral materials and office equipment were destroyed.
Okoye, however, noted that there are no casualties on the part of the staff on guard duty, saying that the matter has been reported to the police for investigation.
INEC spokesman revealed that this was not the first time the Commission’s office was attacked in the state.
