With the swift intervention of the Southeast governors’ forum chaired by Governor David Umahi, Rochas Okorocha was not allowed to spend a night in police custody after his arrest on Sunday, February 21.
The former Imo governor was released on the night of Sunday, according to reports from Umahi’s spokesperson, Francis Nwaze.
Moreover, the Ebonyi state governor disclosed that the forum is making moves to bring about a reconciliation between Okorocha and his successor, Hope Uzodinma, Premium Times reports.
Part of a statement from Nwaze read: “South-east leaders are capable of settling their disputes internally instead of washing their linen in public.
“We sue for calm among the supporters of both leaders to ensure a timely and amicable resolution of the disagreement.”
