Zeenat, wife of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has tested negative for COVID-19.
Acting Controller-General, Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), John Mrabure, made the disclosure on Monday.
Zeenat had reportedly contracted the virus while in custody in Kaduna.
In a statement by NCoS spokesman, Francis Enobore, Mrabure said a test was conducted in collaboration with the Kaduna State Government, Zeenat’s personal physician and the NCDC.
“The test result has been released and the inmate, including her contacts have no trace of COVID-19 virus.
“It is important to state with emphasis that Zeenat El-Zakzaky never contracted COVID-19 infection as it was alleged,” he said.
