Amid rumour of his alleged presidential ambition in 2023, Nyesom Wike, Rivers state governor, has declared that he has no intention to run for the presidency during the next general elections.
In an interview with Channels TV in Port Harcourt, Wike said his political detractors were behind the recent circulation of his posters in Abuja, which fulled rumours that he is gunning for the highest office in the land.
The governor said though it is his constitutional right to aspire for the office of the president, his present interest is the delivery of dividends of democracy to Rivers people.
“Since December last year to this period, we are commissioning projects. So people are now believing that with the commissioning of projects, he may have intention to run for president.”
