Lionel Messi has been named the World’s Best Playmaker of the last decade, with Cristiano Ronaldo only appearing in 12th position.
The International Federation of Football History & Statistics has named the World’s Best Playmaker on yearly since 2006 and has now selected their winner over the last decade.
Messi was beaten by Kevin De Bruyne to the title in 2020, but won it a record-equalling four times in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019.
As a consequence, he also received the most points over the last decade, while his former FC Barcelona teammate Andres Iniesta, who won the award in 2012 and 2013, follows in second place.
Further down the ranking is Ronaldo in 12th position. Even though he features more as a winger or forward on the pitch, Ronaldo had been named on the list of the World’s Best Playmakers over the years.
