Mixed Reactions As Buhari’s Aide Blasts Nigerians Over NIN, Says “Nigerians Love Last Minute Things”

The personal assistant to the President on new media, Mr. Bashir Ahmad, has taken to his verified Twitter handle to blame the Nigerian citizens over non compliance with the registration of National Identification Number (NIN).

“For several years, the government has been urging Nigerians to enroll in the NIMC because of its importance, especially the National Identification Number (NIN), I enrolled in 2012, but unfortunately not many heeded the call. Just don’t know why Nigerians love last-minute thing.” Says Mr. Bashir.

Recall that the Nigerian Communication Commission(NCC) has directed all telecom operators to block all sim cards. They gave two weeks to link NIN with sim cards or risk being blocked. But later on, the Reps asked the NCC to make the deadline to ten weeks.

The populace is not happy with the development, but some who didn’t register for NIN went to NIMC’s to get enrolled.

Reacting to what Mr. Bashir said, some social media users blasted Bashir over his statement expecially with the rising wave of covid-19;
