Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini of The Kingdom of ESwatini, one of Africa’s smallest countries, is dead.

Formerly known as Swaziland, the Country bordered by Moçambique and South Africa was renamed The Kingdom of ESwatini by King Mswati III to avoid the confusion with Switzerland and to extricate the Country from memories of its colonial past.

The tiny absolute monarchy’s Government appointed Dlamini Ambrose Prime Minister in November 2018, following his position as the CEO of Swazi MTN (2010-2018), part of the South African MTN Group. He worked in various banks (including Standard Bank), reaching managerial positions.

Dlamini Ambrose (born March 5, 1968) tested positive for COVID-19 in November, and was asymptomatic and stable at the time.

He was transferred to a South African hospital on Dec 01 to “guide and fast track his recovery,” Deputy PM Masuku stated.

He was unfortunately, pronounced dead in a South African hospital on December 13.
