Ogun Police kill armed robber in military camouflage

A suspected armed robber was killed on Friday in a gun battle between operatives of the Ogun State Police Command and a gang of armed robbers.
The bloody clash occurred in the early hours of Friday on Sagamu/Benin Expressway in Ijebu-Ife, the Ijebu-East Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, made this known in a statement on Friday.
Oyeyemi said the robber was shot dead following a distress call received by the police in Ijebu-Ife about 2:45 am on Friday.

Oyeyemi said the Police were alerted that a gang of armed robbers in military camouflage, fully armed had blocked the expressway and were dispossessing motorists of their valuables.
He said, “Upon the information, the DPO Ijebu-Ife CSP Raphael Ugbenyo quickly mobilised his Anti-Robbery team as well as a team of Special Anti Robbery Squads to the scene.
