2020 WASSCE begins today, candidate writes exam from isolation centre after testing positive to Coronavirus


Senior Secondary School 3 students across the country on Monday commenced the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

It was gathered that the students wrote their first subject, Mathematics, amid tight Covid-19 protocol including social distancing, use of face masks and hand washing.

The Federal Government had earlier in August okayed the reopening of schools for graduating students.

Meanwhile a candidate who tested positive for COVID-19 in Gombe State on Monday wrote his first paper in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination from an isolation centre.

The unnamed male candidate wrote his Mathematics examination under the supervision of an invigilator who was fully kitted in a Personal Protective Equipment.

The Gombe State Public Health Emergency Operations Centre disclosed this in a message posted on its Twitter handle, @GombePHEOC, on Monday.
