Recall that about two months ago, following the manhunt launched by the Oyo State Police Command to apprehend the culprits in connection with killings at the Akinyele axis of the state, Sunday Sodipe (19 years), and a certain herbalist who he worked for, Adedokun Yinusa Ajani (50 years), were apprehended.
However, according to the information gathered by the Oyo State-based Investigative broadcaster and activist, Oriyomi Hamzat, posted via a video clip on his Facebook page on Sunday, it has been revealed that Sunday Sodipe, Barakat’s killer, has allegedly escaped from the Police custody in Iyanganku, as another killing was recorded in the same community over the weekend.
According to the information gathered, it was revealed that the latest victim of the sad incident, one Mrs Funmilayo, a widow, whose husband died about a year ago, also known as Iya Ibeji/Iya Kemi, was allegedly murdered in broad daylight in Saturday.
Residents were said to have discovered the body of the woman in a pool of blood in her apartment in Akinyele in Saturday afternoon, as her head was carefully wrapped with curtains cloth on her bed.
One of the children of the deceased, simply identified as Oluwakemi, disclosed that her mother was rushed to about 4 different hospitals before she gave up the ghost around 8:30pm on Saturday.
While giving details of the incident, the residents, Barakat’s father and the monarch in Akinyele, all spoke with one voice and revealed that Sunday Sodipe, the killer of Barakat, has been spotted in the community and market places in the last three days, as they all alledged that the Police told them, upon enquiry that indeed he has escaped, and that if they could help apprehend him, they should go ahead.
Consequently, the Akinyele residents of Oyo state, are appealing to the government to kindly beef up security in their community, in other to avert another mindless killings.
