Super Eagles legend, Kanu Nwankwo clocks 44

Former Super Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu simply known then as pipillo from a popular TV ad clocks 44 today, August 1, 2020, and his wife, Amara, and others are celebrating the living legend.

Kanu who hails from Abia State, Southeast Nigeria ended his international career following Nigeriaโ€™s exit from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

He also played for Ajax, Inter Milan, and English Premier League club Arsenal.

Celebrating his birthday, Kanu wrote on his social media pages; โ€œI THANK GOD FOR TODAY๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME AND HAPPY NEW MONTH TO YOU ALL. His wife and mother of his three children also took to Instagram to pray for the legend.

She wrote; โ€œHappy Birthday to my King. I love you long time. Thanks for all you do and all that you are @kingkanu4 โ€

The Confederation of African Football, CAF also remembers his dazzling soccer skill during his time with a post on Twitter.

Kanu is regarded as one of the best players in African football history having won two African Player of the Year awards, the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, Premier League, three FA Cup Winners Medals and two African Player of the Year awards amongst others.

He is one of few players to have won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup and an Olympic Gold Medal.

He made the third-most substitute appearances in Premier League history, appearing from the bench 118 times, and is regarded as one of the best players in African football history.

He is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, and African brand ambassador for digital TV operator StarTimes.

He is also the owner of Kanu Sports TV, an Internet Sports Television which position to be the first indigenous sports TV in Nigeria, Kanu Sports Television.

Kanu also started the Heart Foundation in 2000 after he survived a heart condition. The foundation has โ€œsuccessfully helped 538 childrenโ€ get open-heart surgeries in hospitals across the world and spent about $4.2 million.
