The remains of Muhammed Alkali, the retired army general, who was declared missing on September 3, have been found in an abandoned well in Guchwet, Shen of Jos south local government area of Plateau state.
Umar Mohammed, leader of the operation search and rescue, disclosed this to reporters on Wednesday.
He said plans were in place for a befitting burial for the deceased en route Bauchi state from Jos.
On Friday, B. A. Akinruluyo, general officer commanding, 3 division, Rukuba barracks, had said soldiers located a grave where Alkali was initially buried.
Akinruluyo said some of the suspects arrested in connection with the incident confessed that the body of the deceased was buried in a place known as “No Man’s Land” Dura-Du community in Plateau.
He said those behind the dastardly act later exhumed the corpse and took it to an unknown place.
Alkali was the immediate past chief of administration of the Nigerian Army.
The deceased was killed few days after he had retired from the army after 35 years.
