Mesut Ozil turned down a whopping £22million-a-year after tax deal from China to stay with Arsenal.
The German international, 29, is set to stay put at the Emirates Stadium after agreeing a new deal until 2021.
Ozil has agreed a new £350,000-a-week pre-tax deal after months of negotiations between Arsenal and Ozil’s midfielder’s representatives.
But he stood to make much more from a move to the Far East, according to reports in Germany.
A number of clubs, including Manchester United and PSG made contact with the Gunners’ playmaker’s representatives during his contract standoff.
SportBild reports however that the biggest offer came from Chinese champions Guangzhou Evergrande however.
Backed by the Evergrande Group, Guangzhou have won the Chinese Super League in each of the last seven years.
