Peter Kay has cancelled his first tour in eight years, scrapping all 100 dates of his forthcoming Peter Kay Live Arena Tour due to ‘unforeseen family circumstances.’
The Bolton-born comedian recently added a string of dates to the mammoth tour, which was due to kick off in Birmingham on Saturday, April 21 2018 and wrap in Liverpool on March 19, 2019.
However, at 12pm today the 44-year-old confirmed that he’s had to pull the plug.
The announcement on his Facebook page read: “Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.”
“This includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance for Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.”
“My sincerest apologies,” he continued, insisting the decision had not been ‘taken lightly.’
“I’m sure you’ll understand that my family must always come first.” he said. “I’ve always endeavoured to protect my family’s privacy from the media. I hope that the media and the public will continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again, I’m very sorry.”
