Total Horror! Watch as a woman jumps to her death from 12th floor of a hotel in New York (Photos/Video)

A woman jumped from a hotel on Central Park on Tuesday, letting go from about 120 feet above the pavement as police tried to convince her to come to safety, according to NY Daily News.

The woman jumped just before 3 p.m. from 1 Hotel Central Park on Sixth Ave. and W. 58th St. in Midtown after police and firefighters rushed to the scene at about 2:19 p.m., officials said.

“I was coming out of the building and saw people looking up. There were firemen there trying to talk her out of jumping,” said businessman David Horowitch, 60.

“It almost looked like she slipped. Not sure if that’s what happened. She somersaulted. It was a sound I never want to hear again. Then I looked away.”

New York University student Brendan Walsh, 21, said the woman appeared to be about 12 floors up. He looked on as police officers had a brief chance to talk the woman out of killing herself.

“She came over the edge. One officer came. You could see his head. He talked to her for maybe one minute,” he said.

“She just let go, fell backwards. From the beginning she was just a hair away from falling. It looked like she was ready to go. She was just getting ready, in the position.”

He added, “It wasn’t one of those situations where someone is sitting on the bridge and wants to talk.”

The hotel’s standard rooms go for about $800, while the two-bedroom Greenwood Suite with a Japanese soaking tub can be had for $10,798 a night.
