Russian man charged with 729 counts of rape ‘used orphanage girls as sex slaves’

Police in Russia have charged a man with 729 counts of rape against five girls he fostered from an orphanage.

The shocking case came to light when one of the victims told teachers at her school she was being abused.

All the girls are believed to be aged 17 and under.

The suspect began taking the girls in after his wife died but then used them as his personal sex slaves, according to local reports.

The scandal in Komsomolsk-on-Amur has led to a criminal investigation into how a paedophile was able to foster the girls.

Local childcare officials are alleged to have failed to make proper checks on the wellbeing of the orphans.

It is not known how young the schoolgirls were when the alleged abuse began, reported The Siberian Times.
