We will prefer to have six packs than have sex ,these four men claim

Office worker Marc Burgum, 30, from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, spends more time in the gym than with his new girlfriend.

He says: “I’ve just started seeing someone but we’ve only been on a few dates.

“It’s early days but it’s hard – I just don’t have time to give her my full attention.

“Most people in a relationship spend every night after work cuddling up on the sofa but that’s when I’m focused solely on training and going to the gym.

“Before training I’m busy preparing meals of carbs and protein that will fuel my workout.

“I train until 9pm and afterwards I’m grouchy and tired.

“I need an hour to relax and have “me-time” so I’m not interested in having sex then.

Conditioning coach Grant Tosner has been single for six years.

The 30-year-old from Cheshunt, Herts, says: “Girls hate that I spend so much of my time time in the gym.

“I train really hard for six days a week and, to be honest, I’d rather have a 30-minute nap than afternoon sex.

“I work long hours and sex is the last thing on my mind when I get home.

“Everything in my life is regimented when I’m in training – I can’t go to restaurants, drink alcohol or eat carbs.

“My calorie intake drops from 4,000 calories a day to 1,500, which really affects my mood.

“At a friend’s birthday recently, we all went to TGI Fridays for booze and burgers, but I sat outside in my car eating cod and broccoli.

“I joined them later but only drank tap water.

“I find meeting girls hard now as I’m not going to bars and getting drunk.

“I’m a confident, self-assured guy – and girls can’t always handle that.”

Personal trainer Luca Gallone, 30, from Lewisham, South London, says Sunday is the only day he and his wife have sex.

He says: “I got married seven months ago but I’m never at home.

“I spend six days a week in the gym.

“I work weekends too which isn’t great for my wife.

“She says I shouldn’t spend so much time at the gym – she wants me to stay home with her and cuddle up on the sofa.

“For me it’s about taking my hobby seriously.

“I train four or five times a week and I feel nervous, frustrated and unhappy if I don’t go.

“I’m addicted to working out.

“Most couples lie in bed in the morning and I guess this is when a lot of them have sex.

Rollercoaster engineer Curtis Stevens has not been intimate with anyone for months.

But the 24-year-old from Sutton, South London, is happy to sacrifice sex for a toned body.

He says: “As a teen I was always skinny.

“It didn’t attract the girls.

“And when I got my job as a rollercoaster engineer, I just felt like the weakling at work.

“I started going to the gym and slowly started packing on muscle.

“I’ve gone from 56kg to 75kg in four years.

“I loved getting stronger and have worked on tweaking my training so I look ripped too.

“It’s taken a lot of discipline – time in the gym, eating the right foods, no alcohol and plenty of sleep.

“At first I loved all the attention my body got me, enjoying a few quick flings.

“I had a girlfriend for a while who I really liked, but she couldn’t handle me seeing my personal trainer more than her, so we called it a day.

“The last time I had sex was at New Year after a girl in the gym gave me her number.

“The sex was great but she couldn’t handle me not drinking alcohol and getting up at 4am to train.

“Life’s about compromise.

“I feel lucky as I’m sponsored by a nutrition company called Bio Synergy – proving some good can come from sacrificing sex.”
