President Buhari calls for dialogue with Niger Delta Avengers after oil attacks

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a team led by a national security advisor to begin a dialogue with the Niger Delta Avengers militant group which has claimed responsibility for a string of attacks, according to reports.

Nigeria’s oil output is currently between 1.5million and 1.6million barrels a day, down from 2.2million barrels at the start of the year.

Oil minister, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu said, “We are making contacts with everybody who is involved, the ones that we can identify, through them, the ones that we can’t identify so that there is a lot more inclusiveness in this dialogue,” according to Reuters.
