The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested associate of President Muhammadu Buhari, Colonel Jaffar Isa (rtd), to give the anti-graft war an undeserving credibility.
The party insisted that the manner of the release after being quizzed by the commission over his involvement in the alleged $2.1 billion arms deal gave a strong suspicion that the arrest was a smokescreen meant to delude the Nigerian populace.
The party noted that the case of Isa, a former military administrator of Kaduna State, whom the anti-graft said was released after repaying N100 million out of the money collected from the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki, was concocted by the EFCC.
The state Publicity Secretary of PDP, Jackson Adebayo, in released statement reads in part,
“The whole thing was like a drama from Nollywood where you can see the end of a film from the beginning. The arrest, purported refund of N100 million by Isa and his eventual release was a charade taken too far.
“The EFCC and the FG should explain to the world what was the money collected by Isa meant for as was done to other cases since the beginning of the indiscriminate arrest and perpetual detention of the PDP members in the same category.
