Police Arrest 2 For Beating Vice Principal to Stupor in Enugu

The police in Enugu State have arrested two people in connection with the manhandling of the Vice Principal of Government Girls Secondary School, Aguobu-Owa in Ezeagu Local Government Area.

The spokesperson of the Enugu State Police Command, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, in a statement, said the vice principal, Mr Kenneth Jideofor, was subdued to swear an oath and thereafter beaten to stupor.

Amaraizu said that an official of the school on October 6 at about 5.00 p.m. accused the victim of stealing school property.

“The vice principal was taken to a shrine where he swore to an oath, stripped naked at the market square and thereafter beaten to stupor and abandoned by the roadside.

“The victim was rescued by a good Nigerian who was passing by” Amaraizu said.

He said that the two persons in their custody were helping them in their investigation.

He noted that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Abubakar Mohammed, had called on the citizens to be law abiding and avoid taking laws into their hands under whatever circumstance.
