The Senate has deferred the screening of ministerial nominee, former governor of Rivers state Rotimi Amaechi to tomorrow Thursday October 15th.

Because of the inability of Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to submit its report on the petition against Ex Governor Amaechi, the Senate on Wednesday, deferred the screening of the minister-nominee to Thursday.

While briefing the senate, the Chairman of the Committee, Sam Anyanwu, said that the committee could not meet on Tuesday following the late adjournment of plenary.

Senator Anyanwu said that as at the time of adjournment of plenary, most of the members of the committee were too tired to meet, promising that the committee would meet on Wednesday so as to finalise the report on Rotimi Amaechi and submit it on Thursday to enable his screening.

“You will recall that the Committee on Ethics, Public Petitions and Privileges has been investigating Mr Rotimi Ameachi, a ministerial nominee from Rivers State. As I speak, the report is yet to be concluded,” Anyanwu stated.

Meanwhile the Senate President ruled that Amaechi’s name be delisted from the Order Paper while assuring that the report would be ready tomorrow.

However, Ameachi was seen on the balcony of Committee offices making desperate calls earlier when Senate went into close-door session.
