Housekeeper jailed without option of fine for stealing employer’s underwear

A housekeeper, Vivian Simeon-Michael, was on Tuesday sentenced to ‎two-month imprisonment by an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for stealing. Ms. Simeon-Michael, 20, was convicted for stealing her employer’s underwear and other items, valued at N295, 000.

The presiding magistrate, A. T. Omoyele, gave the sentence after Ms. Simeon-Michael pleaded guilty to the one-count charge brought against her by the police.

She, however, did not give the convict an option of fine stressing that “she is a first offender who must see that crime does not pay”.

on September 9, at Isale Eko Way, Dolphin Estate Ikoyi, Lagos.
He said Ms. Simeon-Michael stole the personal effect of her employer, Bisi Awoniyi.
