Tension In Rivers State Community Over Cultist Clash

There was panic in Ubima, Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State as two persons were feared dead as a result of a clash between two rival cult groups.

Ubima is the hometown of two former governors of the state, Sir Celestine Ngozichim Omehia and Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

According to Leadership, the residents of the community are fleeing to avoid being caught in the crossfire between the two warring cult groups.

Chairman of the Ikwerre local government council, Hon. Bestman Amadi, who confirmed the incident, said security operatives have been drafted to the community to restore peace and order.

Amadi said, “The second detachment of security operatives are right now being drafted to Ubima community to quell the situation. The first detachment of armed security personnel was drafted yesterday night.

“We are about returning to Ubima with the second detachment of security operatives to make sure the rival cultists are effectively subdued and disarmed.
