Percy Sledge, Soul singer famous for ‘When A Man Loves A Woman’, dies at 73

Legendary American soul and R&B singer Percy Tyrone Sledge has died at age 73. He is the foundation of soul music, the singer of the world most iconic song “When A Man Loves A Woman“.
His longtime agent, Steve Green, said Percy died at his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Tuesday after a long battle with cancer. He’s survived by a wife and 12 children.
Percy’s debut single “When A Man Loves A Woman” a No. 1 Pop and Soul hit in 1966, was his greatest hit of his career. It is the most covered song and most featured on several movie soundtracks. In 2005, Percy was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Rest in Peace Percy, a true Icon.
