Petition Launched Against Kanye West, Rock Fans Don’t Want Him At Glastonbury Line-Up
There is petition by some Glastonbury festival goers as they do not want Kanye West as the headlining act on Saturday, they want a Rock Band instead in the 3 day music festival.
“We are thrilled to let you know we have the one and only Kanye West headlining Saturday night on the Pyramid stage!” The festival’s organiser, Emily Eavis, tweeted.
Festival goers, who paid £225 are not happy and they launched an online petition to have Kanye West removed from the line up.
The petition set-up at change.org by Neil Lonsdale.
“Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment.
Kanye has been very outspoken on his views on music….he should listen to his own advice and pass his headline slot on to someone deserving!
Lets prevent this musical injustice now!”
The petition has garnered 12,500 supporters (as of 18:50 pm GMT, march 17).
A petitioner wrote, “He believes his career some sort of public service. Saying he is like a soldier. As a soldier that was my last straw . he is egotistical, stupid, unthoughtful and a disastrous muscian. He is the scum at top of the ladder.”
Another wrote, “Kanye has no talent, it would be a shame to see him perform on the main stage whilst really talented artists miss a chance to do so.”
Jay-Z made history in 2008 by being the first hip hop act to grace the main stage, it was followed with outburst from Noel Gallagher who blamed lack of ticket sales on having an hip hop artist as headlining act.
Foo fighters are the headlining act on Friday, Sunday main act is yet to be confirmed. Lionel Richie is also performing.
