Chelsea left-wing back, Marcos Alonso, has revealed the three Blues players who have taken up the club’s legend, John Terry’s dressing room leadership.
According to Alonso, Cesc Fabregas, Cesar Azpilicueta, and David Luiz are the three Chelsea players that have taken Terry’s role at the club.
Terry, who spent 19 years at Stamford Bridge, left the West London club on a free transfer in the summer of 2017, which left a huge void within the squad.
The ex-England captain was one of the key players behind Chelsea’s success in the past decade and was the leader on and off the pitch.
He spent one season in the Championship with Aston Villa, making 35 appearances as they reached the play-off final only to be beaten 1-0 by Fulham.
“John Terry used to do this very well. In my first year he was very good for us even if he didn’t play that much,” Alonso told Chelsea’s official website when asked ‘Who is good at lifting morale after defeat?’
“Off the pitch he played a huge part in us winning the title and I think now Fabregas, Azpi and David Luiz are all good characters taking Terry’s role in the changing room.”
