“I want to play beside Lacazette” – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Arsenal’s record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has urged Arsene Wenger to pair him with fellow striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Aubemeyang has scored six goals in his first seven games for the Gunners, but his January arrival from Borussia Dortmund saw Lacazette dropped to the bench before the France striker was then sidelined by injury.

Lacazette is back to fitness but looks set to be used mainly in the Europa League, in which Aubameyang is cup-tied, with the Frenchman having been on the bench in both Premier League games since his return.

But Aubameyang told Sky Sports: “I hope we will have the opportunity to play together — it’s something I said when I first arrived that I hoped to play with him.

“We have different styles, but I think they’re styles that complement each other — he’s a very good player and a very kind person.

“We were once rivals in our days in France, but we’re now friends and I hope we can play well together and score lots of goals.”
