Governor Mimiko grants amnesty to 11 prisoners in Ondo on Democracy day

As part of the activities marking the 2016 Democracy Day celebration,11 prisoners serving different jail terms in Ondo State have been discharged following pardon granted them by the state Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.

According to a statement issued by the state’s commissioner for Information, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, in Akure on Monday, the Governor’s gesture was in line with the power conferred on him by section 212 (1) of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended.

It came as result of requests and application for full and conditional pardon made to Governor Mimiko by Human Rights and Civil Society Organisations.
