The Ondo State Police Command have arrested two siblings Omoniyi Alaleran and Oluwaseun Enikuomehin for allegedly burying alive two persons, who they alleged to have stolen N130,000 belonging to their mother, Mrs Ogunnuga.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Ondo State Command, Mr Femi Joseph, who disclosed the arrest of the suspects, said the suspects took the action after the duo of Igbekele Orisabinole and Ogbaro Erinbo refused to confess stealing their mother’s money despite various types of torture meted to them.
According to the PPRO, the incident happened at Omonira Street, Igbokoda, the headquarters of the Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State on March 12, 2016.
It was gathered that Mrs. Ogunnuga lost a sum of N130,000 and accused Ogbaro and Orisabunole of stealing the money and then informed her two children that the money was stolen by Orisabinole and Erinbo.
The duo reportedly claimed innocent of the offence but their claim was not accepted by their accusers.
After the severe torture and the victims pleaded innocent, the suspects allegedly took them (victims) inside a bush, dug a pit and pushed them inside it and covered the pit up to their neck, remaining only their heads outside.
It was learnt that when after the suspects had buried their victims, somebody who knew about it ran to the owner of the money and reported that the thieves were being dealt with in the bush.
Not pleased with the action of her children, the woman was said to have ran into the bush and found the ‘thieves’ half buried. Seeing what her children had done, the woman raised an alarm which attracted people who later alerted the police.
The PPRO explained that the matter was being handled by the Special Investigative Bureau at the headquarters of the command in Akure, the state capital.
“We are almost concluding investigation on the matter, the suspects will be charged to court very soon” the police spokesman said.
